The pattern design is taken from original 1956 Cortina sweater – the first ever Olympic sweater made for the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo. This pattern captures the very essence of Norwegian tradition and has become one of Norway’s most beloved patterns. All knitted together into a hat with a young fit and vibe. The Cortina hat is made of 100 % fine Norwegian wool. This yarn offers incredibly lightness and a unique, crisp look. By selecting the finest wool from the sheep’s very first shearing, the fibers are short, giving us a finer and softer yarn with. The outcome is a thin, light and soft hat, while maintaining the brilliance, crimp and longevity for which Norwegian wool is world renowned. For extra comfort, the inside is knitted with soft merino wool.100 % fine Norwegian woolRib knit with skin soft merino wool on the insideDesigned and knitted in NorwayMachine wash using wool-cycle100 % natural woolDue to its exceptional properties that no synthetic fibers can match, wool is back in fashion. In 1872, Peder Jebsen travelled through the small village of Dale, located close to the city of Bergen. He recognized Dale as an ideal place to establish a premium textile production facility utilizing the valley’s potential for natural hydro power, the easy access to Norwegian wool and strong knitting traditions.Peder Jebsen secured the rights to the local waterfalls and soon thereafter, steamboats loaded with new machines from England arrived in Dale. The Dale of Norway textile facility was completed in 1879 and has remained active in the village of Dale ever since. From the beginning, the focus was set on crafting premium wool qualities. We quickly grew to be the largest employer in the region. Skilled knitters and artisans joined our company, often followed by their family members. Subsequently, this experience and expertise was passed on to the next generation.Being one of the very few textile companies with production in Norway, we are able to pay close attention to every stage of the production.
