The north coast of Akamas offers excellent snorkeling possibilities. It is characterised by crystal clear waters and light blue water colours at many places as well as a collection of different rock colours and formations. We usually snorkel for 4-5 km (and have a pause at a secluded beach) in a go and return route. I do recommend going a bit further west, to Koufotrypis beach, where there is a beautiful sea cave (total length would increase to 7 km).There is even the possibility to do a linear 6 km snorkeling route, go further west, upto Blue Lagoon cove, with beautiful white sands and pick up the local taxi back to the starting point.In all our trips we used buoy(s) for passing boats to note our presence. If we are lucky we may spot sea turtles in the trip.It should be noted that from Nicosia one should only book this as a ten-hour option.
