An island was left in this artificial reservoir, located between the municipalities of El Gordo and Berrocalejo in the province of Cáceres.For decades, the land was plagued with eucalyptus trees, a species considered invasive, destined to supply a paper plant that was never built. It was also used as an informal landfill. Its environmental value was low, as it lacked all the flora and fauna that the island has today as a result of residential development.
