This is the best-kept secret on Big Island. Only locals know about these tide pools. The surrounding scenery is reminiscent of Big Sur: stunning views, steep cliffs, vibrant vegetation - something straight out of a movie. You are totally immersed in nature. You will be blown away before we even begin the hike. Park on Papio St. (in front of Kahakai Park).The tide pools are magical. You can climb on the perimeter rocks to get an unparalleled view of the coastline. Only feet away, massive waves strike the cliffs and send water flying into the air. The area is a kind of playground (bring water shoes!). You can spend hours exploring the colorful ecosystem. The depth of the pools (1-7 feet) is perfect for swimming.As much as the tide pools deliver, this experience is just as much about spending time with me.
